target audience:  who your design is supposed to appeal to.

message:  what you want your design to say to your audience

work ethic:  being prepared, using time efficiently, and being respectful

employability skills:  skills needed to become employed and to progress in the company

20/20 Rule:  every 20 minutes to 20 feet away for 20 seconds

Right-To-Know Laws:  every person has the right to know what chemicals they are being exposed to in everyday life.

icon:  a basic image that represents something

vector-based graphics:  image made from geometric shapes and lines

specs/specifications of a project:  specific details about a project, like the size or title

dialog box:  to make a dialog box you make a rectangle then add three anchor points to make the talk bubble

palette:  contains all tools in an application

guidelines:  rulers on a image that help make it symmetrical but won't be seen on final image

extensions:  image is bigger than wanted so i extends over area

contextual menu:  a pop-up window that appears on certain images

clipping mask:  crops an image but doesn't delete extra it just hides it

hue:  A hue is the color itself

primary colors:  Red, Blue, and Yellow

secondary colors:  Orange, Green, and Violet are made by combining 2 primary colors

tertiary colors:  combining a primary color and a secondary color, Red-Orange, Yellow-Orange, Yellow-Green, Blue-Green, Blue-Violet, and Red-Violet.

neutral colors:  colors not shown on color wheel

continuous tone image:  an image where all the variations of color can be represented because images have unlimited range of color

resolution:  it is the pixel count in digital images

file size:  is the amount of space a file takes up on your hard drive

typography:  the art of expressing ideas through the selection of appropriate type surfaces

typeface:  distinctive designs of visual symbols that are used to compose a printed image/ design also known as font

serif:  smaller line used to finish off a main stroke of a letter, usually at the top or bottom of a character

body type:  type sizes that range from 4 pt to 12 pt and are found in reading texts

display type:   type sizes above 12 pt it is used to draw attention

reverse type:  white type on a solid black or darker background it is used when to catch attention

point size:  a measure unit that goes from top of the ascender to bottom of the descender

ligatures:  when two or more letters are connected

ampersand:  &, and

small caps:  when letters are capitalized and are the same height as lower case letters

lowercase:  when there is a difference in size between letters and their surroundings

uppercase:  when letters are same size

flush left:  all text is aligned to the left

flush right:  all text is aligned to the right

centered:  all text is aligned to the center, very formal

justified:  aligned on left and right

type family:  bold, italic, normal

lining:  numbers thats are all the same size

non- lining:  numbers that are lowercase size and have ascenders and descenders, similar to type writers

leading:  space in between lines of type

margin:  white space around edges of document, indesign shows where to keep important stuff

kerning:   adjusting the space in between individual characters

tracking:   allow you to adjust spacing between entire word/ sentence/ paragraph

Concept:  an idea

final product:  the end result; how we ultimately communicate to our audience

Thumbnail:  a quick, small, sketch to get thoughts out of your mind and onto paper

Initialcap: larger decorative capital letters at the beginning of text or a paragraph
